The LOOKROAD L28 Max is a practical trekking e-bike with a conventional frame, 27.5-inch wheels and a very large 48 V 30 Ah battery. Its upright position, broad saddle, metal mudguards and 25 kg rear rack suit commuting, delivery work and relaxed touring.
Range is its defining strength. The bike covered more than 100 km during the road test and the display still showed three of five battery bars. The 750 W, 65 Nm rear-hub motor provides useful assistance, while the five PAS levels are sensibly spaced at the factory speed limit.
The main compromise is a delayed and sometimes inconsistent cadence sensor, especially when starting uphill. Buyers should also account for the roughly 31 kg weight, audible motor, basic non-lockout fork and brakes that need a firm pull. It is designed for long, steady routes rather than aggressive mountain biking.
